Beauty Way

by Kathryn Morski

G                                          D
Raven is a songbird when he soars above the canyon
             C                                             G                   D
Singing, “Let me float down easy in the layers and the colors.”
            G                                              D
And he spends his days just waiting for what the day will bring him.
            C                                        G                         D
On the rising wind, he glories in the flying and the singing,

              Em                          D
Singing, "Hey, hey, hey – in beauty is my way.”
             Em                        D                         C  G  D
Singing, "Hey, hey, hey – I thank You for this day.”

I am kin to Raven as I walk along the canyon,
And I balance on the wind to try to keep myself from falling,
And I spend my days just watching for a song to take me flying
Out above the gray-green waters, where the light is swiftly dying,

Singing, "Hey, hey, hey – in beauty is my way.”
Singing, "Hey, hey, hey – I thank You for this day.”

C                                 Bm
Coyote is a trickster.  Her songs just raise the echoes
              C                                            G                             D
From the houses of the hermits to the place where mule deer rest.
            G                                              Bm
If you listen you can hear her where the chilly winter wind blows.
             C                                                 G                     D
If you’re lucky, you can hear her out there laughing at her jest.

Now I am at this canyon, and my songs are only pebbles.
I can toss them out forever, watch them sink without a ripple.
Like the raven and coyote, I will spend my days in singing,
Watch the colors, test the wind for the songs it may be  bringing,

Singing, "Hey, hey, hey – in beauty is my way.”
Singing, "Hey, hey, hey – I thank You for this day.
Hey, hey – in beauty is my way.”
Singing, "Hey, hey, hey – I thank You for this day.”
