Abilene's just a light on the sky,

And the moon's sinkin' fast into West Texas

And so am I!
Well, these ripplin' plains are a humblin' sight
Lyin' under the blanket of stars.
And the air is so sweet that it just might erase
All the smoke from those nights at the bars.
Now I'm...
I've got places to go, I've got songs in my head.
There is music I'm longin' to play.
And there's one thing I know: Every mile in the dark
Brings me one mile closer to the day.
