Patience is a virtue, the wise men say,

And I've lived my life in patience, waiting day to day.

When you know just when the fun begins, waiting may be nice,

But it's my belief there comes a time when patience is a vice.
I've been waiting too long for my ship to come in,
Waiting much too long now for my life to begin.
I've waited for other folks to say it's time to go.
Been waiting in the wings too long. It's time to start the show.
All my life they told me to be patient, wait my turn.
Through being patient, I was told, life's lessons I would learn.
Seems I learned my lesson much too well. Life never came my way.
Gonna stop this patient waiting. Gonna start my life today.
Cause I've waited for the bureaucrats to set this country right.

And I've waited for a prophet, Lord, to tell me what to do,
