There's A Bird

By Kathryn Morski

G     C                G               Em
There’s a bird singing as the rain comes down,
 CM7          D            D7
Falling on the roof, falling on the sodden ground
 G     C                G               Em
And the song drips inside and melts my heart.
 CM7     D                               G
Tears are like the rain.  Now the tears can start.

CM7             G             CM7          D             G
I remember how it felt to watch the rain with you.
CM7                   Em               A                         D           D7
In your arms, the sun cast rainbows and the song came close to true…

There’s a flower blooming on a rain-drenched vine.
Someone has to go, someone has to stay behind,
And the flower blooms alone in sun and in rain.
Turn the rain to tears.  Tears won’t ease the pain.

Gentle rain, I hear your whisper, hear your muted song.
Does it promise nothing more than tears and rainbows from now on?

There’s a cloud up above that’s edged with blue,
Promising the sun, promising I’ll dream anew,
And the rain, falling silver, turns to gold;
Turns to memories tears my heart will hold.

Come the rainbow, I’ll be waiting for the song to start.
In the sunshine, I’ll remember how your love could warm my heart.

There’s a bird, singing as the rain comes down,
Falling on the roof, falling all around --
Falling on the roof, falling all around.
